Saturday, September 6, 2008

 

8:00 am                      Registration - Hotel Finlen foyer

9:00 am                      Bus tour of famous historic sites of Butte including Chinatown, Red Light District, Berkeley Pit,

                                  Copper King Mansion, site of the worst mining disaster, the town of Walkerville, etc.

Noon                           Lunch on your own

1:30 - 4:00 pm             Historic underground walking tours of Uptown Butte with professional guides

6:00 pm                       No host bar in banquet room at Hotel Finlen

6:30 pm                       General Meeting of MGTPS members
7:00 pm                       Banquet at Hotel Finlen (catered by the Acoma)

           

            Guest Speaker: Mr. Brian Shovers, President of Montana Chapter of the Society for Industrial Archaeology.
             His topic will be "The Mining History of Butte."

 

Sunday, September 7, 2008

 

9:00 am                      Guided tours of World Museum of Mining

                                   (The four guides are retired miners and come in miners' costumes)

Noon                           Miners' lunch (Cornish pasties) at World Museum of Mining
                                 
The W. M. of M. has offered a bonus - a 1 1/2 hour underground mine tour for those who are brave!
                                   If you wish to go, pay your own way.

 

                                   Travel home safely, everyone.
 

 

The Hotel Finlen is the host hotel.  Rates are $50-$70, depending on number of guests and size of beds.  There are 20
restored rooms in the historic hotel and 20 more in the motel addition - all available on a first come, first served basis.
